"I have always had great respect for Liane as an author, presenter and friend. Her seminal autobiography provided the first exploration of Asperger's syndrome from the female perspective. She is also an eloquent, entertaining and insightful presenter and we have presented together on the same stage for several international conferences. I am always eager to learn her perspective and interpretation on many aspects of ASD. I highly recommend Liane as a speaker on ASD."

When Liane speaks she is genuine, compassionate, and funny. She is able to engage an audience, so that when you listen, you come away enlightened and energized. I watched her connect with a group of women on the spectrum in a way that I am not sure another speaker could.  She was not only talking to them how to connect and create community, she was showing them how to do it She was not just talking about self-acceptance and self-advocacy, she was modeling it.

Girl Talk: Thoughts on Being Female on the Autism Spectrum
Women with an autism spectrum challenge present far differently than do their male counterparts. They are often diagnosed less often, diagnosed inaccurately, and too often left out of much needed support systems. In this talk, Liane will provide personal insight, research reviews and practical suggestions for females who have Asperger Syndrome.

Safety Skills for People with Asperger Syndrome
People with Asperger syndrome typically struggle with interpersonal relationships and emotional health. This presentation will present Liane's personal experiences with botched safety, recovery and skill sets that are helpful for people on the spectrum interested in developing healthy relationships, safe socializing & emotional well-being.

Pretending to be Normal ~ The Trials, Tribulations & Triumphs of Living with Asperger Syndrome
Liane presents her life story from her earliest memories as a very young child, to her world as she now experiences it. Included in this speech is information on how her parents and caregivers supported and taught her, how she came to understand and cope with her AS, and how the world's views and expectations have affected her through her years.  Liane will present her vision of how caregivers and the society can make life for ALL people on the ASD spectrum more rich and rewarding.

Aging and Asperger Syndrome
Liane shares her experiences and emerging research on ASD and aging. Ideas explored include life as an Aspie knocking on the door of senior citizenship, issues of self-awareness, regression, resilience, self-advocacy, and transition planning.

Language and Cognition Challenges and Supports for People with Asperger Syndrome
While people with AS tend to have average to superior language skills, their comprehension and communication abilities can suffer from the tendency toward literal thinking, rigid thinking and poor theory of mind or perspective taking. This presentation illustrates how important solid language and cognition skills are, especially as the base for other life skills like social living, relationship building, and career success and happiness.  It will also outline supports for developing those skills.

Helping ASD Kids Succeed in the Classroom
During her tenure as a Professor of Education and a classroom teacher, Liane employed a variety of teaching styles to address individual learning style needs. Even before she knew about Asperger syndrome, Liane recognized the students in her classes whose thinking patterns and behaviors were similar to her own, were floundering in ways she could relate to. By the time her daughter was diagnosed with AS and a student herself, Liane had researched and applied strategies that were particularly helpful for any student with learning style difference, including AS.  This presentation focuses on strategies that help to keep kids with ASD or other learning challenges, focused, productive, and emotionally and socially secure.

What Worked and What Didn’t: My Personal Employment Journey
It is typically quite difficult for people who live with an autism spectrum diagnosis to find their perfect job. In her Keynote, Professor Liane Holliday Willey will explore her personal journey in the workforce from her perspective as a woman with Asperger syndrome. Liane will share her struggles, crashed dreams, and trying climb that eventually brought her to a career that ultimately works on her strengths and eases her ASD related challenges.
